Joining our Pistol Section;
If you are wishing to join our Pistol Section and you do not hold any Firearm Licence, your first step is you need to join the Sporting Shooters' Association of Australia Ipswich Branch INC., you can go to the SSAA website, fill out the form and pay online, please go to ssaa.org.au go to new members fill out the form and you can pay online if you wish, on the form on the top right hand corner, it will say Branch if known, please put in Q02 Ipswich that will put you into our branch.
The next step is to then go to the Qld Weapons Licensing Branch go to forms: operators of Clubs, Ranges or Galleries look for a form Qp0515 Statement of Eligibility, you can fill it out online if you wish, but you must take it to a Police Station and sign the form in front of a Police Officer, the Police will send it to Weapons Licensing who will do the security check on you, and if they are satisfied that you are a Fit and Proper Person to hold a Concealable Firearms Licence they will send you a Statement of Eligibility Certificate which then you have 3mths to give it to the club you wish to belong to.
Please be careful when you take your form to the Police station, if they want to charge you for a security check, you need to tell them that they have to send the form to Weapons Licensing, and Weapons Licensing will do the Security Check, and there is no charge attached.
Next step. Go to the Club Representative of the club you wish to belong, give him the Statement of Eligibility from Weapons Licensing.
You will also need 2 Character References from people who have known you for more than 2 yrs. They need to be 18yrs. or older and must not have a Criminal record.
They need to put their Name, Address, Phone No: on the reference and sign said form.
Show your SSAA membership card,( If you are not a Ipswich Branch member you will have to transfer your membership to our branch.)
Pay membership fee.$40.00
Fill out the forms required by the club.
You will then start your 6mths. probation.
Transferring from another pistol club, If transferring from another Pistol club you will need a letter of Financial Status from your club (remember that you must transfer to your new club before you leave your old club.)
You will also need 2 character references (see paragraph above).
Your Pistol licence.
Your S.S.A.A. membership card and you will need to transfer or join our S.S.A.A. Branch if you want to become a member.
Joining Fees $40.00.
Come and see the Club Representative with the required paperwork.
Pistol Shooters Transferring do not need to do the 6mths.Probation.
